My name is Gene Wieneke and I’m asking for YOUR vote for City Council in Ward Four.

 I’VE BEEN TO YOUR FRONT DOOR; ACTIVE VOTER.  I’M COMMITTED!

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Retired city and county manager with over 25 years of municipal service
• Thirteen year resident of the city
• Currently on part-time service with RTD
• Currently appointed to the Board of Adjustment
• Formerly appointed to the Urban Renewal Authority
• Serving your interests since 2001

RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS ON BEHALF OF THE CITIZEN’S OF NORTHGLENN:

• Secured the exemption of homeowners in the contractor licensing ordinance before adoption
• Preserved dedicated water and sewer revenues through the charter amendment you approved
• Held City Council responsible for actions that would effect Northglenn residents’ taxes
• Led the petition drive that gave you the right to vote on the first recreation center project
• Kept you abreast of issues in the Your Hub newspaper and web site from day one
• Privately assisted the City Council by critiquing numerous staff ordinances

ISSUES IN NEED OF RESPONSIBLE CHANGE:

• Council needs to be responsive and consistent in their leadership for their citizens
• Council needs to begin being financially responsible while looking for creative ways to meet the needs of the City, rather than raising taxes as their first course of action.  The proposed 86% increase in the city property tax is unacceptable for any reason short of an emergency
• Council needs to provide oversight and clear direction to City staff, so that services can be provided in a timely manner and stay within the priorities that you have established
• Council needs to seriously address the shortage in our secure water supply
• Council policies need to be established in public meetings; not through emails
• Council needs to reduce overhead expenses in order to fund needed capital projects
• Civility among Council members must be restored publicly and privately
