Council Agrees on Issue Priorities

The Council Members spent two days together in early April for the purpose of discussing their working relationship and a joint approach addressing various municipal issues.  For the last two months you have seen one result; meeting decorum.  This last Saturday we met with staff and shared our priorities from the April retreat.

TOP PRIORITY
120th Development—Recreation Center—Street Funding—Water Rights and Services—Empty Grocery Stores

HIGH PRIORITY
Comprehensive Master Plan—Solid Waste Collection and Recycling—Prioritization of City Services—Code Enforcement—Water and Sewer Infrastructure—Financial Software

MODERATE PRIORITY
Northglenn Neighborhood Development Corp—Foreclosures—Marketplace Long-Term Strategy—City Cost Reduction Plan

For the Top and High Priorities the Council has already identified Key Issues and Work elements to be pursued.  It should be kept in mind that the prioritization was based on current circumstances and thought at the time.

While members of the Council will differ on the ways and means of accomplishing the desired outcomes, I believe we will do so in a collaborative manner.  You will see the above information, with more detail, on the City web page in the very near future.

It took awhile to get to this point, but I believe council is on track.Change is not always easy but sometimes it is necessary. Now if our citizens will give this board a little time we might see big strides.

This board has slowed progress to a crawl. Yeah, we might get where we need to go, but they are going to draw out the process as long as possible. Take the software issue, Staff was correct all along....and this Council wasted how many hours of Staff time? Those hours spent by Staff on that Council boondoogle instead of doing the things they should have been doing.

Through this painful ordeal for some, the council obtained and all inclusive instead of open end price from Springbrook. Furthermore, council got the five year total cost reduced by over $440,000 to the new price of $220,000.

The consideration of the company with the current technology and ensuing debate was done over the strong opposition of the city manager and his staff. We will now go to software designed in the early nineties because of price and price alone.

Gene, you forgot the labor cost that Staff put into the analysis. Include that in your analysis and I would be willing to bet the two costs come out equal.

Based upon everything you have written in your blogs and this website, it appears as if you have no faith in City Staff because you disregard everything they say.

If you knew more about the staff,me and the work done by staff on this issue, you would know that your both of your conclusions are false; as in not a word true.

Mr Larson, again, what is your claim to fame? All I see is a disgruntled old man who would find something to be negative about if the Pope made you a Saint. Like I said before, if you cant be positive -zip it. Better yet put your money where your mouth is and run for office.
